Well all know that guy. The one who probably drafted a worse team than you at every position, has made 3 roster moves all season and doesn't even watch football. They also have better record than you? The reason? Cooper Kupp. Well, whether they like it or not, this is our week for revenge! Or not, if you're the guy who has Kupp and the worse team. Regardless, another good week for receivers with some good matchups and some horrendous ones, so lets break them down here.
*Must-starts, as always, will not be included*
Start Em
Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins vs Jets
The Jets defense has been nothing short of laughable these past few y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ weeks, and I don't expect much to change here. Waddle has been peppered with targets over the last few weeks and with no Devante Parker or Will Fuller on the horizon, I expect another high target game here. In standard/.5 ppr this is a bit riskier, but I have him as almost a must start in PPR.
Rashod Bateman, Ravens vs Bears
Keep the rookies coming! After a slow start to last game, Bateman ended with a respectable 6-80 with an endzone target that was intercepted. He is slowly usurping Sammy Watkins on the depth chart, and the talent here is undeniable. With reports of Marquise Brown still limited in practice, there is a very high ceiling here for this week. At worst I see him as a WR3.
Darnell Mooney, Bears vs Ravens
Time to switch ends of the field. Mooney has become the favorite target of Fields recently, and with Allen Robinson battling injury those 3 targets have to go somewhere! Jokes/sadness aside, Fields' confidence increasing could do wonders for Mooney, especially coming off a bye. I think this game could sneakily be a shootout, and I can see Mooney breaking off a big play at some point.
Deep Sleeper: Donavan Peoples-Jones, Browns vs Lions
For a normal game, I wouldn't get near this passing offense with a 20 foot pole. However, they are playing the Lions, and nothing is normal about them. With OBJ gone and Landry dealing with 50 different injuries, Peoples-Jones is a sneaky dart throw this week. Also consider: Jamal Agnew, Robby Anderson, Marcus Johnson
Sit Em
Michael Pittman, Colts vs Bills
This one might rub some people the wrong way. Do I think he could have a decent game? Sure. But purely on paper, the matchup is horrible. Carson Wentz has only been giving him roughly 6 targets a game against average team. When he's shadowed by Tre'Davious White? Oh boy. Obviously most situations there won't be a better option on your bench, but I'd temper expectations here.
Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers vs Jaguars
This one seems unfair. One of they most hyped players going into this season, Aiyuk was in the doghouse for about the entire season before seeming to break out week 9. However, there are too many people for Jimmy G here to feed, especially given his love for Kittle and the coaching staffs love for Deebo. Playing the Jaguars might be his only saving grace here, but I'd still steer clear if possible. The floor isn't worth the ceiling.
Jarvis Landry, Browns vs Lions
See - DPJ above. Landry is dealing with injuries, apparent frustration with his quarterback and just overall a lack of touches. That can definitely change in a "get right" game presented by the Lions, but unless you're looking for an incredibly safe floor, you can do much better for a WR3.
All Giants WRs, Giants vs Bucs
I know, the matchup is appealing. But with the way the offense has been favorite RBs and TEs over the last few weeks, I'm scared off by this bunch. Especially now with all 4 WRs healthy here, I don't have a good way to tell one apart from the others. UPDATE: Sterling Shephard might be out for this game, which doesn't change much unless if you need a desperate play, go for Kenny Golladay.
Bust of the Week: Mike Williams, Chargers vs Steelers
What a fall from grace for Mike Williams. The WR2 through weeks 1-5 and the WR80 since, Williams struggles have coincided with the Chargers, who have lost almost all offensive identity recently. This week, they go against a decimated Steelers D-Line in a primetime matchup, most likely against Mason Rudolph. This should be an easy win, so with a poor game script and an ample opportunity to get the run game going, I'd stay away from Williams here unless necessary.
